Review To Look At Internet Snooping

Having banned email spam last year, the Federal Government has set its sights on spyware, the malicious use of software to steal internet users' personal and financial information. The Communications Minister, Helen Coonan, yesterday announced the Government would review the privacy and cybercrime laws to ensure they provided enough protection against spyware. Spyware is software used to secretly track people's internet use and harvest their personal information. It is often a stepping stone to fraud. It is not known when the review will be completed.
