Spring is almost here and with it the annual update of security programs from Norton and McAfee. Both will soon release their 2007 line of brightly coloured boxes to protect you from viruses, spyware, spam and other online evils. But this year there will also be online versions of software for which you pay a monthly subscription. It's called "software as a service" and unlike the current model of buying a new package each year, the monthly fee will entitle you to all new versions as they are released. Symantec's Norton 360 package will provide "all points" protection, including online back-up to a remote server. McAfee will offer several individual programs, including hardward.
